Fantabuloso, until 20 April
What do you call an exhibition that celebrates superheroes, pop art and gay culture? Fantabuloso!
The latest exhibition to hit specialist print gallery Atom is named just that.
Featuring the work of Villain, it plays with the language of Pop Art, wittily referencing Marvel illustrations and interweaving Polari (the secret language employed by the gay community through the 20th century).
Villain has worked as an Art and Graphics director in the Fashion Industry for over 20years. He's now bringing his mischievous perspective to the art world via Atom.
It is camp, colourful and fabulously fun. It also, however, asks a more serious question: what if homosexuality had never been criminalised? Would the heroes we have inherited look different?
This exhibition will feature a previously unseen series of archival giclée prints, along with several limited edition screenprints, all of which will be available to buy.
