30 Years Studio Upstairs anniversary exhibition
In 1988, a charity called Studio Upstairs opened a space where people with mental or emotional difficulties could feel safe and communicate their feelings through art.
Studio Upstairs 30th anniversary exhibition runs until 13 Jan
Thirty years later, and having opened a further two branches, it is celebrating its survival and the extraordinary artistry of its members, with an exhibition at Stour Space.
30 Years Studio Upstairs anniversary exhibition showcases the work of members and volunteers both past and present, across its Hackney, Bristol and Croydon branches.
The charity's aim has always been to give people a way to reconnect with their reasons for living, move from isolation to community, and find new ways to experience a better quality of life.
Through painting, print, sculpture and digital media, the exhibition serves as a poignant reminder of art's enduring ability to articulate that for which we cannot find words.
The exhibition is free and open daily until 13 January.
