Hackney City Farm
Hackney City Farm in Haggerston has been giving the local community the opportunity to get up close to countryside animals for over 30 years.
Established in 1984 by a group of residents offering a way for inner city children to experience countryside activities, the farm has since developed to host school visits and evening classes, plus healthy living, volunteering and eco-friendly projects.
Fruit and vegetables are produced on the farm, with apples, pears and plums grown in the orchard, and vegetables and herbs in the garden. Some of these can be bought at the farm shop, as can homemade honey from its bee hives, and chicken and duck eggs.
The farm is free to visit and borders Haggerston Park. The venue has a room that opens out into the park which is perfect for children's parties or community group meetings.
It also has an on-site cafe, Frizzante, which serves seasonal and local produce.
