F Cooke has served pies, mash and jellied eels to East Londoners for nearly 150 years.
Fred Cooke opened his first shop in Clerkenwell in 1862, soon his family were running a popular chain with branches across East London. Today, a fourth generation of the Cooke family runs the shop in Hoxton Street.
It promises handmade pastry and 100 per cent minced beef with a liberal ladle-full of traditional liquor on the side.
Pie and mash starts at £3.70 and the eat-in area is the perfect place to stop to refuel on comfort food before checking out the local shops or nightlife.
