Taking its name from the Japanese word for 'sound' and 'noise', Café Oto in Dalston welcomes some of the world's most avant-garde, creative and adventurous live performers.
Expect experimental jazz and pop alongside legendary 1960s folk and rock stars. Past big names include Terry Riley, Yoko Ono and Thurston Moore, while more local musicians also regularly feature on the bill.
The Ashwin Street venue is one large café and performance space, open during the day serving food and drink, with an evening programme of live music most nights a week.
Café Oto's busy and eclectic roster underpins a philosophy of finding inventiveness and musical ingenuity outside the mainstream.
The venue is also available for private hire and hosts parties, wedding receptions, photo shoots and other events.
