St John-at-Hackney Church
The current building dates from 1797, but St John-at-Hackney Church has been at the heart of borough life since 1275.
Primarily still a place of worship, St John's is also a busy community hub and live music venue with amazing acoustics.
It has been a key location for Visions music festival, as well as Mencap's Little Noise Sessions, hosting performers including Elbow, Goldfrapp, Gary Barlow and Ed Sheeran.
It also hosts food festivals, indoor markets, courses, charity and youth events, as well as the popular Hackney Children's Theatre.
