Copper Box Arena
The Copper Box was built as a venue for goalball, handball and modern pentathlon during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Situated in the Hackney part of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is covered in more than 3,000sqm of striking recycled copper cladding that is developing a rich natural colour as it ages.
After the Games, it was adapted to be used as a community sports centre with a gym. Sports catered for include netball, basketball, boxing, martial arts, wheelchair rugby and volleyball. It also has an on site cafe and creche.
The venue, which is just five minutes walk from Hackney Wick Overground station, continues to be used for international sporting competitions and big public events including live music, comedy, conferences and exhibitions.
