The Pembury Tavern is a welcoming local with a bewildering range of real ales, craft beers, ciders and lagers never before seen in London.
The imposing building was built in the mid 19th century at a major junction between Dalston, Hackney Downs and Hackney Central.
It fell into disrepair following a fire in the 90s, but was renovated and reopened by Cambridge-based Milton Brewery in 2006, hence its unique drinks selection, many with Greco/Roman inspired names from Marcus Aurelius to Sparta.
A selection of card and board games are available at the bar and there is bar billiards and a pool table. The Italian-based food menu is pretty good too.
